Political Stances via Kumu


 

   For this week's web assignments, I decided to play around with Kumu, a online app used to create diagrams and designs. When using Kumu, I quickly learned that the tool was indeed powerful, although I learned that mostly through breaking things rather than creating them. I then decided to make a basic replication of a chart that I found online that mapped out different modern forms of government, and once I stuck to the idea I found that I was barely scratching the surface with what Kumu was truly capable of. That being said, I am proud of what I was able to accomplish with the software - even though it's just a polished copy.

Cloud Delta

     Seeing this assignment gave me a great idea to utilize a song that's been stuck in my head for the past few days, and the opportunity to play around with one of my favorite movies; Using iMovie, I put together 3 different scenes from the movie Cloud Atlas, and synced it to play with a song called Delta by C2C, a band consisting of 4 French DJ's.     It seems disjointed without seeing the movie and understanding the context of the scenes, but it's still entertaining to watch nonetheless. The Visuals of Storytelling

    This week I was tasked to do some reading on how to become a better photographer, as well on what elements create the narrative and tell the story for visual presentations. From the readings I learned that nearly every detail in a picture, video, or movie can be tweaked to design the desired narrative and emotional effect in a visual presentation - the objects in the foreground or background, the spatial awareness in the shot, the contrast of different colors or objects within the shot, etc. I then went back to some of my favorite superhero movies and paused them for a moment to analyze and attempt to identify the narrative that the creator may have intended for that particular shot.    First i went back and watched a somewhat dramatic piece, "The Dark Knight Rises". Bad and Sunny

    For this assignment, I had the task of finding a music video and placing a new song behind it while trying to make the two fit as best as possible. When thinking about how I would somehow make essentially two songs fit together, I decided to pick two songs that happened to have the same BPM (Beats Per Minute), and use the video for one. Luckily enough, The Beatles and Migos with Lil Uzi Vert had something in common - their BPM. Overall it all turned out pretty well too - Enjoy!
