The Land Before Gantz

Image
For this assignment I was tasked with taking a movie trailer and mixing it with another trailer in whatever ways I could. When I saw this assignment I immediately thought of the 28 Days Later mashup that I had done before and was eager to do something similar. On a side note, doing the 'Bad and Sunny' was noticeably harder to complete due to the PC I was using at the time, and not wanting to spend time dealing with bad (but free) software I downloaded a Trial for Sony Vegas video editing software. The software is honestly the best I've used so far - better than iMovie even - so this video turned out pretty good. But it's bad. Really bad. Not for anyone too young or the faint of heart. Seriously. Enjoy.

Senpai SuperPAC

This assignment is something that the Remix Generator threw at me that I thought was pretty unique. I had to create a fictional SuperPAC as well as translate it into another language. Seeing this as a go-ahead to poke at whatever culture I wanted, I decided to go with the Japenese this time, and the final product seems to do it justice. The basic idea of it is that our hero Kawaii is running for Emperor in 2018. Some of his policies are also scattered about. The original character comes from Adventure Time. Have fun translating!

Emo-Style Angel

For this Remixed Assignment I was tasked to change the 'mood' of an image, and the "Go Emo" requirement. Since the mood of the assignment was already decided, I decided to try to take something that'd be challenging to turn emo. I stumbled upon a drawing of a "Seraphic Angel" when looking for angels, and figured that it'd be a good pick to play around with. I don't think I was able to truly go emo on the photo, but I did darken it a good amount overall.  Original Photo:  Here

For this assignment, I had the task of finding a music video and placing a new song behind it while trying to make the two fit as best as possible. When thinking about how I would somehow make essentially two songs fit together, I decided to pick two songs that happened to have the same BPM (Beats Per Minute), and use the video for one. Luckily enough, The Beatles and Migos with Lil Uzi Vert had something in common - their BPM. Overall it all turned out pretty well too - Enjoy!

Nick Cage and Jersey Shore

For this assignment I was tasked to Superimpose - or 'blend' two images together. The two things that made this assignment worthwhile were the quick 3 min tutorial on a useful technique in GIMP and how long the example for this assignment had me laughing. In the spirit of that, I tried to do something comedic as well. And so here's Nicolas Cage watching TV.

Week 12 Summary

Week 12 was interesting, to say the least. I really felt invested and enjoyed working on all the assignments I chose, with the added bonus of taking away a life computer lesson: Always, ALWAYS remember to keep a copy of your work. Between holiday travel and malfunctioning equipment, I worked with a lot of different software over the course of the week. If I wasn't able to call myself an Audio/Video geek before, I probably can now. Below is all my work completed for the week: Nick Cage and Jersey Shore Bad and Sunny Remix:  Emo-Style Angel Remix:  Senpai SuperPAC The Land Before Gantz

Week 11 Summary

For this week, I've tried to pick some difficult assignments to test my skills with video editing; Since I enjoyed playing around with different movies and clips that I enjoy last week, I decided to keep to the same method. I was satisfied with how everything turned out overall, and as an added bonus, I gained a good amount of experience with working with iMovie. Below is my completed work for the week:      Jess Lockwood Montage      Spoiling Theevan      28 Days Later Crack #tdc2132 New York, way back when and now. pic.twitter.com/vx3ss7bsdb — Lachdown (@Lachdown3) November 10, 2017 #tdc2131 I only see Eagles behind door 106! pic.twitter.com/l2cAHn9Gaq — Lachdown (@Lachdown3) November 10, 2017 #tdc2129 To that beautiful man out there putting salami on everything. pic.twitter.com/ugIzqK25Yx — Lachdown (@Lachdown3) November 8, 2017

Jess Lockwood Montage

For this assignment I decided to pick the most dangerous sport I could think of, and to make a highlight montage of a professional in that sport. In my search I stumbled upon Jess Lockwood, the youngest champion in Professional Bull Riding history, and decided to make a video dedicated to him. I thought that it was important to not only illustrate the successes that Lockwood has had as a bull rider, but also the fact that bull riding is an incredibly dangerous sport no matter who's participating. As always, enjoy! Jess Lockwood Montage from Mike Macleay on Vimeo .

Spoiling Theevan

For this assignment, I decided to spoil the worst movie I could possibly think of. The reason why I wanted to spoil something that wasn't worth watching twice (in my opinion) was to ensure that the chance of someone being upset that a movie was spoiled for them was as close to zero as possible. And thus, I decided to do a quick 30 second summary of a short film called Theevan: a film created by  Thilakanathan Studios, that was Directed, Produced,Written, Designed, and Animated by Danan  Thilakanathan himself. I've only included maybe the first 10 or so minutes of the film in my summary as well - mainly because the following 20 minutes of the film make no sense whatsoever. Enjoy. 28 Days Later Crack

For this assignment, I failed to find a pinpoint definition to a 'crack' video. Doing some research on Youtube, I found a mix of two things: First, videos of movie scenes being synced to music or dialogue from other movies for stylistic effect, and the second and more abundant kind of video were of movies being synced to music or dialogue for comedic effect - with nearly all of all of these using TV static to cut between its sequences (similar to the TV series Robot Chicken). Wanting to try something new, I decided to do a little bit of both, and as such I took a horror movie - 28 Days Later - and synced it to lighthearted music that didn't fit the scene at all. When working on the finishing touches of this video I had actually discovered that my idea wasn't too original, as other users on Youtube had actually done the same thing with other horror movies. Nonetheless, I was satisfied with how the final product came out. Enjoy - Not recommended for the faint o

Week 10 Summary

Below is all the work I've completed for week 10. Playing around with video editing software was entertaining for me, once I was able to get the hang of working with iMovie.      Cloud Delta

Seeing this assignment gave me a great idea to utilize a song that's been stuck in my head for the past few days, and the opportunity to play around with one of my favorite movies; Using iMovie, I put together 3 different scenes from the movie Cloud Atlas, and synced it to play with a song called Delta by C2C, a band consisting of 4 French DJ's.     It seems disjointed without seeing the movie and understanding the context of the scenes, but it's still entertaining to watch nonetheless. Enjoy!
